Infinity Nikki Players Are Worried About the Version 1.8 Housing Monetization Leak
Infinity Nikki Version 1.8 leak sparks concern as the new housing system may introduce a costly monthly furniture pass and microtransactions.
So I was scrolling through the latest Infinity Nikki chatter when a leak about Version 1.8 stopped me cold. I am just a regular player who loves the cozy dress-up loop, but sometimes it feels like every lovely new feature comes with a catch. This time, the rumor is that housing, one of the most anticipated systems, will get its own monthly furniture pass priced at 80 yuan, which is about $11.13. On top of that, individual furniture pieces might be sold for 6 yuan, or roughly $0.83 each. That sounds small on paper, but for collectors, it adds up fast.

I still remember how excited everyone was after the successful launch of Infinity Nikki. The open world was full of promise, and for a while it felt like a dreamy dress-up adventure. But trust took a serious hit with Version 1.5. Even in 2026, that update still makes a lot of us wince. It was not just the technical disaster across several platforms that frustrated me; it was the dye system. To unlock a single dye palette for each clothing piece, players had to spend premium currency. Not once, but per item. That felt like the game was being chopped into tiny paid pieces.
A lot of players, myself included, started paying much closer attention to how Infold monetizes things. The backlash was loud enough that a notable group of players organized a boycott. People stopped buying, stopped pulling on banners, and some even stopped logging in altogether. I did not fully quit, but I definitely closed my wallet.
Then Version 1.6 arrived in a much more stable state. I actually enjoyed it, and for a brief moment it felt like the storm had passed. But the community is still cautious. Many of us are waiting to see if Infold will really address the deeper monetization problems rather than just patching the technical ones. That is exactly why this 1.8 housing leak feels like a warning sign.

According to a leak shared by littleroseredcris from XHS, the housing system will allegedly be monetized through a new monthly pass. Paying for the pass would grant access to exclusive furniture. The individual furniture pieces would also be sold separately. For me, the issue is not that housing is monetized at all. Free-to-play games need to make money. The issue is that this looks like the dye system pattern repeating. Instead of earning furniture through gameplay or a battle pass that already exists, players would face another subscription-style paywall.
I think it would sting less if Infold folded premium furniture into the Mira Journey Battle Pass. That is what Genshin Impact does with some of its premium housing items. Players already know the Battle Pass value, and adding furniture would make it more tempting without creating a whole new charge. It is a smaller ask than asking people to sign up for yet another monthly subscription. If the goal is to make money, a stronger Battle Pass might actually convert more players, including those who are currently boycotting.

There is also a rumor that a new Ability Outfit could let players copy furniture from the overworld and rebuild it on their home island. If true, that would soften the blow. It suggests the devs are at least thinking about giving us a big free furniture pool. That is the kind of creative, cozy gameplay I want from this game. Walking around, spotting a cute chair, copying it, and bringing it home feels way more magical than opening a shop menu and tapping buy.
| Feature | What worries me | What could help |
|---|---|---|
| Version 1.5 dye | premium currency per palette | earn palettes through events |
| 1.8 housing pass | new monthly fee | add to Mira Journey |
| Individual furniture | collection pressure | copy ability outfit |
Still, leaks need to be taken with a grain of salt. Early plans can shift by the time a patch actually reaches players.
Looking back, Version 1.6 was a smaller update. For some players, that was a relief after the Version 1.5 chaos, but it also meant a bit of a lull. The featured 5-Star Banner Outfit was Enchanted Encounter. A rerun of Flutter Storm was expected in the second half. I have been saving my pulls, and I know plenty of friends are doing the same until they see how Infold responds.
Ultimately, whether you joined the boycott or kept playing, the next few months will be telling. Housing should be a place for creativity and comfort, not another test of how much we are willing to spend. I really hope Infold proves the leak wrong, or at least finds a middle ground. Until then, I will be decorating my island with whatever free furniture I can find and keeping my wallet closed.
